Rear air bags install on a lifted suspension
Hey guys. I am looking to install some rear air bags to prevent sag when I load my truck down (quite often during hunting season). I have a 2000 flareside with a Fabtech 6" lift running 35" BFG's.
Do I need some kind of an adapter to install air bags because of the lift? Thinking the reach from the axle to the frame might be too long for a standard install. Where do I get an "adapter"?
What bags do you recommend? Air Lift, Firestone and Hellwig make em:

I wonder why these do not install directly above the axle on the leaf spring pack??
Also, while I am at it, I thought about bringing the front up a bit by putting more pre-load on the torsion bars (they are at stock setting now), and leveling out the rear with the air bags.
Any and all comments are appreciated. Thanks for replying, and I hope everyone has a blessed Christmas and New Year!

Unless you've lifted the rear of your truck with new springs and removed the blocks, you will still require stock type airbags with no adaptive requires. If you lifted the rear of your truck with blocks, the distance from the top of the springs to the frame is still the same as any stock, non-lifted truck.

Another option:

I have them and they do a good job of keeping the truck level when i have it loaded up with gear. I would rather have bags but this was cheaper and easier to install for me.
