Question 6" Lift vs. SVT Raptor

So I totalled my '06 FX4 I'm looking into new ones now. Obviously the raptor is VERY appealing, but I am trying to compare it to buying a lower end model and doing a lift and suspension myself. i have never done a lift or any type of suspension work, so i am just wondering if anyone has any input on the best lifts (probably 6") and shocks etc. greatly appreciated!!

Well, not quite sure I'm following what you're asking here, but there is literally zero comparison between a lifted truck and the Raptor...apples and oranges. The Raptor is a purpose built, off road terror straight off the showroom floor. If you even thought about taking a lifted truck where a Raptor will go you'll break ****. I also am considering a Raptor in my future and if I do, there will be no suspension mods on my mod list...it literally needs nothing. Lifted truck are mainly to look good and dig around in the mud a little bit where ground clearance is crucial.

If you're buying for other than looks, you really need to ask yourself what you'll be doing with the truck. If you like the look of a big lifted truck and that's what fits you, a Raptor might not be what you're after.

IMO the Raptor is a waste of money unless you a) want the name/status or b) actually plan to drive across the desert at 100mph. You could buy a basic F150 and take all the money you saved from not getting the raptor (15-20k) and build your F150 to your exact liking.

^ what msall said it would be a real waste of money if u bought urself a raptor and didnt use it or care for it as what the price tag is askin u. yes, they command alot of attention and all, but if i were to be in need of a new truck it would probably be a superduty for the same price as the raptor; either way its a new truck and ya cant go wrong, what about one of them new fx4's?

What happened to your FX4, in case I didn't hear about it?
I would get an Ecoboost and mod it to hell before I would get a Raptor. Raptors are cool but not a realistic truck for a daily driver.

Yes, Raptors are a complete waste of money unless A) you're gonna use it for it's intended purpose, or B) it's what you want to do with your money...then it's not such a waste!

You could go on fords website and make you a truck and see what you like. Even tho you cant do mods you can see how much different trims would be. You could get a pimped out XL for about 11 k less then the raptor

I have had 2 - F150 Procomp 6" lifts over the past 4 years and loved them both. I sold my last one in August and bought a 6.2L SVT Raptor. Love this truck, however there is very little if any good aftermarket parts for performance or lifts. So I am going back to a lifted truck, however going all the way. I will be buying a 2008 F150 and installing a 12" Rize with 40's and a Whipple Supercharger. I will either sell the Raptor or keep it for my daily drive, still undecided.

Go lifted , and don’t bother with the SVT Raptor, its not worth the money all hype.

The raptor is cool and all but i agree that with the money u spend on a raptor u could customise an fx4 and make it the way you want

Call me crazy, I'd do a raptor (only for the 6.2) with the new brenthal kit on it (strapped at 16"). Though I have access to use the kit in the sand. If a street queen, ecoboost 6 inch kit all day long. If you are high elevation, ecoboost all the way.

What makes the Raptor an exceptional vehicle off road is the wheel travel. That's something that the lift kits that are commonly discussed here don't do.

There is no comparing a lifted F150 with a Raptor.
