My buddy is looking for a suspension lift for his 97 f150. He said he hasn't found a lift that will work with his manual transmission. Does any body know of a lift that will work with his set up? It a 4.2L, manual trans, regular cab long bed 4wd.

 

I didn't know that there were suspension lifts specifically for an automatic or a manual. I thought that all of them were the same.

 

my buddy's truck is a 4.2l V6 with a manual. he said the lifts he found were for a V8 automatic.

 

i think thats b/c lift companys dont know jack about what trucks come with. haha idk. it should work. i dont see why not. a lift for a jeep with a 5 speed will work for a jeep with an auto so why would a lift for an auto truck not work with a 5 speed truck? it should work. there isnt any difference in suspension for with autos and manuels.

 

Yeah the suspension setups are the same between auto and manual, the only thing that might be different is the t-bars being that it's a v6. but this still shouldn't make a difference when it comes to lifting

 

I have an 02 F150 shortbed 4 x 4, 4.6 V8, manual tranny. I installed a 6" BDS system about 4 years ago. It has held up well, for what I have used it for. I chose it because it was competively priced, came with compression struts for the manual tranny which some did not, and would clear 35" tires if I wanted. Will look at them again, if I raise my next truck.
