leveling kit 97-03 f150

want a leveling kit on my truck and ive heard it both ways..

how long will it take to wear out parts on my truck if i crank torsion bars to get it level or/ get aftermarket keys.. i got 2.5" leveling kit for free through rough country and want to put it on and it will only be on for about max 4 months until i can get my truck lifted etc. will it hurt anything? i wont be over turning them just enough to get it level and thats it.. any help is appreciated

Chances are you'll go through some suspension part by then, most likely upper ball joints if you crank those aftermarkets all the way up. If your only going to do it to get level though, save yourself the trouble of installing them and just crank the factory keys until your level, and then you can make sure you stay in spec.

I agree. Even with a free kit, I wouldn't spend hours fighting corroded bolts and keys to do the install. Just crank up the OEM keys and get an aligment.

One of my stock cast keys is cracked so I'll be putting on the aftermarket forged ones I have.. Apparently after talking to a bunch of different offroad shops is that as long as you don't over crank it doesn't matter if you use stock or aftermarket.. Just get it level nothing more and aftermarket forged keys are stronger than the stock cast keys.. How long does it take things to wear out? I've never heard of any issues on 04-08 trucks with leveling kits or the 09+ but it seems like if you crank torsion on these trucks it's horrible

Because it's a complete different suspension design, your trying to compare torsions to coilovers, apples to oranges.

But any level kit that put's too much stress whether it be over cranking key's, or trying to put a 3" level on a 04+ will blow through ball joints and tie rods a lot faster than you'd expect.

Exactly. There is a limit to everything.

So basically as long as there's no over cranking I should be fine? Guys at the shop said they'll get it level but might have to back it down a tad for the alignment but will get it close to level as possible

Yes, don't overdue it and you should be okay.
