Am I killing my power train with stock gears?

I have 3.55 gears with a LS (axle code is H9). 2000 model with 5.4 engine. Stock wheels were 17" but I went down to 16" and am running 315 (35") tires.

I have no intention of going to 37's, but want to stick with 35's. What is your opinion?

Thanks!

4.10s or 4.56s would obviously be better but you probably aren't too bad off with 3.55s. They do stress your transmission running 35s. I'm not exactly sure how much they hurt it. Somebody else can probably give you a more definite answer. Your driving experience will be much better with 4.56s. I love mine

what kind of driving do you do? any towing? do you have a transmission cooler?

i ran 35's and 3.55 gears for about 4 years with no problems.

The only towing that I do is pulling a my 4-wheeler in a smallish trailer. Been running the 35's for a few years now, but I am wondering if it's a death sentence. Apparently not.

I wouldnt say it's a death sentence but it does wear your transmission faster. I would swap to 4.56 gears tho if you decide to do it.
