Yes, it takes a 18 mm socket and ratchet and a measuring tape. Park your truck on a hard flat service (ie concrete) measure both front sides (from ground to bottom of fender well to make sure it is already level. Then crank the t-bars up 1/2 turn at a time. Then remesure and then bounce or even drive the truck to settle the suspension and remeasure again. Most will tell you not to exceed 3 turns of the t-bar bolts as this creates excessive cv angles, misalignment, and a very stiff ride. Do a search tons of info on this mod.

that only works on the 97+ 4x4s with the torsion bars.

If you have the older TTB or 2wd, you need longer springs or spacers

Let me see?

I have just purchased my 2001 4 X 4 SCREW XLT about 3 weeks ago and want to raise the front about 1". My best friend has cranked torsion bars on a Chevy before so he has done this but I want to make sure on a few items.

1. Alignment - If the truck is in alignment now (2300 miles) will I have to have it realigned?

2. CV Boot Rub - I have noticed on a few post that people have had the CV boots rub after doing this. Will the 1" of lift cause this?

3. Ford - Has anyone had a problems with the dealers for doing this modification (warranty).

Thanks

The dealer will align your vehicle for free, one time only, in the first 12 months or 12,000 miles. I cranked mine up almost 2" and then took it to the dealer for some minor warranty work and a free alignment. No questions asked!

Also, I have about 20,000 miles on this setup and no CV boot rub/wear yet.

Talking KYFordFreak

rut-ro! I lefted my t-bars as high as they would go. I suppose I need to start checking for cv axle rub. I haven't noticed any change in the way it handles or rides though.
