Question Lift install from 4Wheel Parts

I called several places about installing the 6" Fabtech lift on my truck. I was quoted $2300. total out the door (Lift, install, labor, wheel align) is this a good deal? I did have them price match for a place on the internet and they beat it by $50. Cost of lift from 4Wheel: $1450. Labor: $725. I really don't have the time to install myself. What do ya'll think?

you make too much money if you say you don't have the time to install it yourself

Question How many hours?

How many labor hours did they quote you? I had my Rancho installed by them and I think it was 8 hours labor. I think they charge $60-65 an hour for labor so that may be a little high.

Nice truck rtroha, the $725 is for the install of the lift, front align, mount and ballance 4 36" SSR's. I know $125 is for the alignment. Would this be fair for a customer that has spent $7k in the store? I know many have spent more, but I like that customer statisfaction. What was some of the costs that others had putting there lift on? I still wonder how much "WhiplashF150" has spent on his truck?

Thumbs up Thanks for the compliment!

When I was getting mine done, I was going to join the Preferred Customer club. It costs $50 but you get free mounting and balancing for your tires. They ended up throwing it in for nothing for me so talk to them about it and see what they'll do. Good luck.

wait

4wheelparts has a march madness sale about early to mid march and stuff goes cheap , free install w/purchase of lift,
free shocks/w lift, buy 3 get 1 free tires, etc.
ask them about it and see if you can get it ahead of time or something.

125 for the alignment? That's high, is something specail involved that I do not know. Most places charge 60 bucks or less to do an alignment.

I was just quoted $ 97.50 for the alignment this weekend at 4 wheel parts and that included removing the 2" lift blocks from the rear and de-cranking the torsion bars.

$125 sounds high to me for the alignment.

I purchased the gears from a friend of mine that has a shop. He purchased them for about $400 for both axles. We put them in and I don't really know if I would do it again. I should have gone to a taller gear, like a 4.56. Thats whats going into it next, but I think I'll take it to a off road shop. Cost I have been quoted at some shops is about $600-800 for 4.56, gears and labor.

As for the alignment, I went down this weekend and added more parts, no extra labor charge, so I guess I got a deal? I ordered the skid plates and a Manik brush bar, twin shock hoop, traction bars, shock covers.

Question

I have a 98 2wd with a 3'' body lift, 305/16 wheels. Someone recommended to me that I should install a steering stabilizer. Is this neccesary ? I've shopped around and cant seem to find one specificaly for my truck. Any thoughts or comments (?) would be much appreciated.

Unfortunately,
I'm getting allot of pressure from the wife about the truck being too high. I am also lowering it back down to prevent excessive tire and suspension wear. ( See post in Wheels/Tires - 4Wheel parts- tosion bar/alignment)

It doesn't bother to much. I bought the truck used that way.

i have purchased the 6" fabtech for 1395 shipped from national tire & wheel. i'm gonna finish installing it tomorrow. it's not that difficult if you have a ample tools. i've used imact wrenches to speed installation, but it can be done with the helping hand of a buddy! labor around my area is about 50 an hour. i agree with the others that 125 is too much for an alignment, 60 or so is about right. good luck!
