The Rancho shocks that now come on new F150's are built to Ford specs, with the just Rancho name. The RS5000's or RS9000's would be an improvement over the stock Rancho shocks.

(pssssttt ... go with the 9000's)

I'd put my vote in for the Rancho RSX. I just put htem on my '01 screw, and had a set on my 99 supercab. If you want a little stiffer ride, and want to save $80 over the edelbrocks. They are based on the same principle, the shock has a valve inside that reacts to the rebound of the shock. If it is rough, the valve opens and allows more oil in the tube, if it is like highway, it closes and makes the shock stiff. It basically does the same thing as the 9000's without having to adjust. At $49.99 each, they are a steal!

Where to shop

Check out TruckPerformance.com. They seem to have pretty good prices all-around. Complete set of RS9000X for $275 + shipping.

RS 5000'S are the way to go if you don't need adjustments. They are cheap. They have a lifetime warranty. They ride great on and off road. I got rid of the psuedo "Ranchos" on my 2002 4x4 FX4. They are junk!!!
