Here is relay info for 4 to 7 pin upgrade

If you do not have the trailer towing package and want to use backup lights on your trailer, charge a battery on your trailer, or use electric brakes, here is what you need to do besides buy the adaptor with both 4 pin and 7 pin outlets; and the pigtail for electric brakes. (This info is in your owners manual.)

You need to make sure you have these fuses (this at least is for a 2001) in the power distribution box (where the high amp fuses and relays are)

No.5 20A for Trailer for backup lights, No. 101 Maxi Fuse 30A for battery charge, No. 108 Maxi Fuse 30A for electric brakes; the other trailer towing fuses should already be there to support the 4 pin.

You need to make sure you have these relays in the power distribution box; (again 2001 info) No. 203 Trailer Tow Backup Lamp, No.302 Trailer Tow Battery Charge.

The schematics in your manual show where all fuses and relays are located. The manual warns you to disconnect the battery before accessing the power distribution box.

Of course, you only need to install these if you plan to use these functions. So just add what you need.
