towing with a leveling kit installed
Hello-
I have a 04 super crew larait 4x4 5.4 3:73 rearend with an AutoSpring 2 inch leveling kit. I am purchasing a Jayco 30' travel trailer that weighs 7300 pds unloaded. I has a tongue weight of about 850 pds. The trailer will have a weight distribution hitch and sway control.
My question is: Will this cause the truck to squat to much to safely tow? Should I remove the leveling kit from the front end to the truck?
Thanks
Tinman

If the weight distributing hitch is set up correctly the rear end of the truck shouldn't squat at all. The tongue weight should be distributed evenly to all four wheels
I don't know the ratings for the 2004 4x4 but pulling a trailer that has a dry weight of 7300 pounds has got to put you close to the GCWR rating with it wet. I pull a 27ft that weighs out at around 5700 in camping trim with my 2001 5.4l w/3.73 and I'm getting within 2000 or so of GCWR.

thats an awful heavy trailer for an f 150 i towed a 32 foot jayco with my f250 sd v 10 crew i didnt have problems pulling it but you new it was back there i think fully loaded the 5.4 will have some trouble pulling it especially up grades if you do get the big trailer you might need mods like a super chip and other power enhancers

Tin,
I pull a 7700 lb (GVWR), 6500 lb (actual) Dutchmen 26 foor travel trailer with my 04 FX4 Scab. I haven't had any problems so far. I use WD hitch with no additional sway control. My truck sits just about level with the trailer hitched and the spring bars set. I don't have any lift kit installed.
