towing a fifth wheel

We are looking to buy a 1994 F150 302 and we think the E4OD tranny. We have a 24 ft fifth wheel with dry weight of 4500, so we're figuring 6000lbs max loaded. Will this truck have any problems towing our fifth wheel? We plan on adding a tranny cooler and electronic brakes. Our 1986 ford F150 pulled it, but we didn't go over 60.

Thanks,
Ragityanni

Sorry, No idea, but do you have an owners man ? If not, you might want to check with the RV.net crowd. The net has alot of experienced campers. The first thing they will tell you is, buy a F-250, PSD. They love to overkill towing. Not everyone wants to hear the clatter of a Diesel. I would think if your old truck pull the your trialer, the new one should as well. However, my gut feeling is no, assuming it doesnt have a tow package or towing rear end. That 302 will be working hard and I assume it probably has alot of miles on the OD.

Fifth wheels have a lot of pin weight compared to a TT. I'd check the payload and pin weight before buying an F-150.

If that works out, the 302 will be adequate, but I'd look for a 351.
