My 2001 screw electrical connector is the standard type 7 prongs. I just tested it and found out that it is not passing any juice to my trailer camper to recharge the battery.

any ideas from anyone out there in FORD country on what the proiblems may be?

Silly question, but did you plug in the extra "towing package" fuses and relays that came with the truck? They are usually provided in a little baggy in the glove box when the truck is new... One relay is for the charging system, and one is for the backup lights.

 

I think the follow-up post is correct. I had to add a relay to the fuse box under the hood to get my camper battery to charge. It is clearly marked in the owners manual, it's cheap to purchase, and easy to install. Everything is pre-wired so you should be in good shape. Make sure you check your fuses too.

 

I just bought the relay today. Part number FOAZ14N089A for $7.36.

Don't forget to get the 30A fuse that is listed in your owners manual in the fuse section #F8SZ14526BA $3.55.
