Actually Ford only owned stock in Cummins and remember new technology isn't always the best tool for a job. I draw my experience from Cummins not from Dodge, but from a buttload of boats and buses. Actually I would love to see the return of the old Oil Slingers, 71 and 92 series Detroits. I hated when Ford dumped the 7.3, but you know the damn EPA regulations which the military is exempted from. Hmm, if DCM would dump the Cummins and go to the Mercedes engine, which they started to do a few years ago, that would free up the little I-6 for the LT market. Of course I believe that the Cummins is one of the few reasons that the Dodge sells, my opinion only though. I saw it mentioned in another thread but I'm also starting to think that the 6.0 will be the read headed step child of Ford like the 6.5 was for GM, just with a buttload more power.

Colorodo, you are realy pushing those rumors with nothing to back them up.
The 6.0L has more torque, over a broader speed range than the 7.3L ever did in medium duty Ford trucks. Ford is working on a 6.4L version of the 6.0L for 2007. Dodge is working on a larger Cummins for 2007 as well. I know people working on both.
Anyway, I have yet to hear anyone complain about the Prodigy installation or use. For $100, I'd try it first. If you don't like it, sell it for $75 and get a different type.

Man you're making this tough.....Cummins copr. website. www.cummins.com
They had a press release dated Jan. 3, 1997...unfortunately it has been removed from the archive. But the SEC doesn't erase stuff.
FORD at one time owned 3.2 million shares of Cummins...... You can check with SEC for verification.
I beleieve that's 51%, so they did control, not really an owner, just a majority largest stock holder. They no longer own 51% but they do still have a substantial amount of stock.
Sorry if I spoke out my a**. Does this clarify?
Didn't '99 7.3 Powerstroke boast of 650 lb/ft of torque? Doesn't the 6.0 only boast 570 lb/ft? I know later models torque and power was waaaaay down. Yes the torque curves are different, even broader.

or, were we referring to Cummins in a Ford and Dodge saying Huh?
