Recently purchased an '05 XLT, and I'm curious to find out where other XLT owners have installed their brake controllers. There doesn't appear to be a good spot to mount it on the near verticle dash. Has anybody installed the controller in the small pocket under the drink holder? If so, was it difficult? Please provide pictures if possible. Thanks in advance.

 

Under the left side there is a small pad. I installed my prodigy there, works great. It's mounted horizontal. The Prodigy is small enough to not be in the way.

 

I put my Prodigy brake controller in the pocket you described. It was not hard at all. The tray comes out with a good yank and you have to cut the back out of it. There is a discussion done on this in the 04-05 forum. Search on it and you will se pictures. I would recommend getting the premade harness for it
