Ford slip-on mirror extensions don't fit

I ordered Ford mirror extensions for an 05 150 XL. Looked promising when the parts guy and I took them out of the box. They wouldn't slip on far enough before hitting the post for mirror mount. I made the parts guy come out and try to fit them because sometimes I fail mechanical IQ tests. He couldn't make them fit either. You could tell they were designed to fit over the factory mirror and it would probably be possible to make them work with some major trimming but I told them I couldn't use them.

Hey, Yaahh, Those 3 legged chrome extension mirrors are great, cause once you have them set-up properly, they leave marks on your fenders so you know exactly where to put them the next time

I have an old set in my shed, if anybody want's to pay the shipping, they're yours.

BTW, I have a set of **** Mirrors that fit on my 2001 Lariat mirrors with the signal light. It says on the **** Box that they won't fit mirrors with the built-in signal light but in reallity all they do is hide the Signal light in the mirror, the rest it fine, so I live with the non-visible mirror signal light

The **** slip on mirrors are not made for the manual adjusting mirrors that the XL has. I had an 04 XLT that they fit on but when I traded it in for the 05 XL they would not work. Ford had bolt on telescoping towing mirrors for the F150 that look great. They are a little expensive but I am saving my pennies for them.
