I am thoroughly confused on 7 pin wiring
I am holding a genuine Ford wiring harness, the car end. The plastic cap for the 7 pin connector says 1 o'clock is (+, or battery charging, RED) and 7 o'clock is (Ground, WHT). And I can see that 1 o'clock wire is RED, and 7 o'clock wire is WHT. But, according to various towing web sites, this is the trailer end wiring diagram.
Am I confused?
Thanks.

Looking at the truck end that the trailer would plug into:
1 o'clock is 12v hot
7 o'clock is ground
Looking at the trailer plug end that plugs into the truck:
11 o'clock 12v hot
5 o'clock ground
Looking at some wiring diagram, they are illustrated by where you connect the wires in the back of the connector making them a mirror opposite of the way they end up looking from the connection side. I hope this sets you straight.

I found an on-line diagram for trailer wiring.
Perhaps a moderator could make it "sticky"?

I think that the only thing that needs to be added to the 6 and 7 pin wiring diagrams is that they are being viewed from behind where the wires are attched, not the connecting face.
Secondly on the 6 pin connector in a RV/trailer the brake will be switched withe the 12v hot making the brakes in the middle. In most every other application it will be as shown as in the diagrams.
