2001 trailer light problem
I have read most of the threads on this topic and think I can figure this out but wanted to run my specific problem by you guys for one last opinion.
I have an 01 Supercrew. I bought a new utility trailer and all lights work fine on every vehicle that tows it EXCEPT mine.
With head lights on, I get dim taillights on the trailer. With head lights on AND I tap the brakes, trailer lights go off.
I have no working turn signals on the trailer but the truck signals work fine.
From what Ive read, this is a likely a grounding issue. Ive checked the fuses in the power distribution box under the hood and in the passenger compartment fuse panel. However, Ive read there is a third small fuse panel under the hood specifically for trailer fuses. I cant find this on the 01.
Any help would be appreciated......Id hate to buy a Chevy over this...

Start with the truck.
If you have a 4 pin trailer plug these are what wires do what.
White---ground
Brown---running/park lights
Green---Right turn/brake lights
Yellow--Left turn/brake lights
Attach a test light to ground and test each wire to make sure they are working. The easiest way to do this without turning on the key is turn on your hazard flashers and running lights and now the running lights are hot and the right and left turn signals will be flashing.
If you have a 7-way plug:
Gound is 7 o'clock
Right is 3 o'clock
Left is 9 o'clock
Park/Running is 11 o'clock
If these all check out then the trailer is the issue.
I hope this helps....keep us informed......
