I towed a 7 ton hudson pintle hook with 55 horsepower tractor and bushog with my 4.2L pulling 33's as well. Never got over 40mph but it did fine. Up some river hills too I might add. Oh and No brakes.

I pulled my car home, 1.5hr trip one way, heavy trailer- a US cargo 18ft flatbed, a 64 Ford Galaxie with a big block. Nothing extreme about this but some argue a 6000 lbs load like that should never be towed by a F-150. I say eat poo, my 2000 reg cab 5.4 auto 3.55 l/s did it with ease. No brake controller, no surge brakes all it had was a w/d hitch w/ round bar setup.

I have a 2002 F150 XLT 4x4 \ 4.6 engine. supercab with 8.8 front and rear diff. 4.10:1 gears, 14"x12"x1.5" tranny cooler, transgo shift kit, detroit truetrac rear diff, gibson exhaust, K+N filter, Hellwig add-a leaf 2500lb springs.
Diablo predator tune running 87 octane. prodigy brake controller, 10,000lb weight dist. hitch. class IV hitch.
I pulled a fully loaded 8'x18' enclosed dual axle cargo trailer, total weight of cargo and trailer: 10,800 lbs. Pulled this load cross country, avg of 65 mph, and once coming through idaho, pulled through some pretty hilly country. 8600' elevation i belive. had to slow down to about 30 doin that climb.
took about 7 days to go from wa. state to florida.
--oh yeah, its a 4.6--
the tow was slow but i was pullin a hell of a load. as long as you take your time and drive carefully, and try not to put anyone else in danger, you should be just fine.

I tried that once with my old truck hauling a built 93 Formula LT1. I had aftermarket exhaust that banged when I hit a bump, so I turned the car around. Helped a lot.

An 18' long white oak tree, complete with roots. Put my 1999 4.6 F-150 on the bumpstops. I had a Prodigy Tekonosha brake controller, but the trailer didn't have brakes.

This was after the dirt was knocked off (got me off the bumpstops)

Well, the most was about #12000 of sweet gum trees behind my f150. Had the trailer over loaded, so I could only go 45 without it swaying. The truck pulled it just fine out of overdrive. Oh, no brake controller, just 4wheel discs!! 2nd most is my Bronco, about #8000 on my trailer. Can run 80 in overdrive down the interstate with it. Still no trailer brakes.
The truck is a 5.4, with 3.55 gears and a limited slip. That was all I had on it at the time.

I had way too much of a drop on my hitch so that is why the front squatted so much

I pulled it about 60 miles total with my truck taking numerous breaks throughout the trip to let the engine cool off. It was a 4.2 with 4.56 and 35's

Heaviest? 36,000lbs of wheat. Mods? = None.

Worst pulling? It's a tradeoff between these two, they both pulled like crap:

Longest ever pulled? 5 peanut wagons hooked back to back. Looked like this but with 1 more small one attached...

Most unusual ever pulled?

I towed my Mustang GT on one of those trailers from Texas to Tennessee like 600 miles. I estimated the weight at 3500 for the car and 2000 for the trailer.

Most I have towed so far is about 6000. 16x7 open bed with a jeep with 35's and 2 fourwheelers. Towed like **** cause I was completely stock. I had to merge and get over a couple of lanes and got beat by a metro bus. That was pretty bad. But Ill be towing more than that in a couple weeks. Buying a brand new 16x8, double axle enclosed trailer. It will have all my tools, shelfes, HVAC, plus spare parts, and be able to still hold 2 fourwheelers and then one in my bed. So Im guessing somewhere around 7k-8k. But Ill have 4.88's and 33's so I dont think it will be that bad.

33'-11" Travel trailer. 8' wide x11' tall. 8500# ready to camp. Pull an average of 4000 miles/yr. I use an Equal-i-zer (brand) weight distribution hitch and a Prodigy controller. No problems at all. Have been up to 78 MPH but not for very long. I was trying to get a run on a huge grade ahead of me. Flat ground, 65 MPH, OD off and cruise set. 12.77 MPG on a 430 mile trip.
