4-way to 7-way/4-way Plug Help

So, after a search and reading several threads on plugging in the factory Ford 7 way/4-way harness, I ordered part #YL3Z-13A576-GB 7-way/4-way plug. I finally get around to installing it and it doesn't match the harnesses under my '98 Expy.

Here's what I have now...

grey harness goes to current 4-way plug
(grey/yellow/brown/black - in
grey/yellow/brown - out)

black harness for trailer brakes / 12v
(orange/blue - in)

Here's the plugs on the 7-way harness (not even close)

I could cut and splice, but I was hoping for "plug and play" to avoid the hassle. Anyone know if there's a 7-way/4-way harness for my application?

The other problem is I waited too long before checking and now it's past the 10 day return window...anyone need a 7-way/4-way harness?

Thanks!

Call the dealer and get the part number? That is what I did when I ordered my harness and it was almost as cheap at the dealer as online.

Unless you can follow that harness back up to the frame. It may have the same block there. The grey connector, does it only feed the trailer pigtail?

Yep...the grey harness goes to the current 4-way pigtail under the bumper.

I thought that maybe the new harness plugged in somewhere further up the frame, but the wiring length corresponds to where my grey/black connectors are now.

From what I have seen looking around online in 2000 they changed the harness on the Expy to have a block connector somthing like the F150 harness you have now but without the second lead. On my truck (2003) the second lead off that harness feeds I believe the tail lights. Call the dealer and see what part they list, but being almost 10 years old my guess is that it is NLA. You may call around to the local salvage yards and find an older Expy with the towing package and get the harness off it. It will be only 7-way but you can splice in a 4-way on the harness, get a replacement plug that matches the factory round connector on the harness if it is like the standard US plug with a 7-way and 4-way from Hoppy or buy the Multi-Tow 7:4 adapter that plugs into the 4-way and clip the plug off the other 2 wires and splice them to it. I need to look at my harness and see how the 4-way is spliced in.
