Need help, electrical problems

Ok so i just bought a new trailer for my atv, its 5x10 with 4ft gate, anyway when i bought the trailer the light plug was about 5 inches short of reaching the plug due to my truck being lifted and the drop hitch. The guy gave me two 12in pieces of trailer wire, color coded for each side to make adding the extensions a no brainer. So i do the wiring then all goes wrong. When i hit the brakes, nothing. When i hit the hazards, nothing. When i hit either turn signal both sides of the trailer lights start flashing like the hazards are on. So i to try to figure out whether its my truck or my wiring i hooked up to my buddies boat trailer and get the same situation. I am pretty sure it has to be something in my truck. I am gonna try hooking it to my buddies truck when he gets home to verify 100% its my truck and not the trailer wiring. I have checked all my fuses and found 1 that was burnt out (right side tow turn) so i replaced it but still no luck. Could it be a relay? Any help is greatly appreciated. I am about to move 800 miles in a week and need it fixed. Thanks guys.

Sounds like a classic case of poor grounding.

When you have a bad ground it will do weird things because it is grounding through other lights.

Check the white wire on the plug. this should be the ground. check continuity to ground or run a temp wire to a good ground.
Do you have a 7 pin plug or a 4 flat plug?

The white wire should be connected to the frame or the only ground you'll get is through the ball when the trailer is connected to the truck. This isn't a very good ground because of corrosion and the movement.

Make sure the trailer lights are grounded good as well. Once you establish good ground and if things are still goofy i would break out the light tester and see whats going on. Some pics of how you have things would help us help you as well!

today my buddy hooked his truck to it and the brake lights worked, but when he hit his turn signals it did the same thing my truck did, the trailer lights flash like the hazards are on. There is a white wire on the trailer plug that goes to nothing. maybe by grounding it the turns will work normal? the brake light problem has to be on my truck though.

I own a similar trailer and when I got it it did the same thing. That white wire that comes out of the trailer plug needs to be connected to the trailer frame. On mine I crimped an eye on the wire and used a self tapping screw to hook it to the trailer tongue right behind the hitch. Everything's worked fine ever since. The white wire is the ground for the trailer.
