building a Tow Vehicle
After towing a loaded 12X6 U-haul coast to coast with a 2006 Screw 5.4l 3.55LS with 285/70/17's, I decided to give it some help for the way back. I am swapping gears for Yukon 4.11's this week. I have an order in to Mike Troyer for an AF1 3.5" CAI, Roush SIDO exhaust, and an XCAL3 tuned. I have been looking at transmission and differential covers. I also need something to monitor temps. I still have the stock 30" tires. I'll probably mount those the next time I pull a long trip if it's not to small a diameter for the 4.11's. Any other suggestions?

if you want something to monitor temps take a look at scan gauge II, i just got one and they are pretty awesome. tells you every thing, and is pretty accurate. price is very reasonable !!!

another thing to add would be a good tranny cooler.
I pulled a 8x18 tandem cargo trailer from Wa. state to Fl. trailer weight+cargo= 10,600 lbs.
Oh yeah, and did i mention the mighty 4.6/4R70W done that job for me!
mods for the tow:
-4.10:1 gears(yukon)
-detroit truetrac
-transgo shift kit
-11"x 13" aux tranny cooler-stacked plate design
-New dual core radiator
-Heavy duty fan clutch
-gibson exhaust
-Prodigy brake controller
-Diablo predator
-10,000 lb weight distributing hitch
-hellwig ad a leafs the big ones(2500lb?)
-goofy mirrors that attatched to mine.
Took me 6-7?days, kept speeds about 60 mph, except for those Idaho mountain passes were killer, up around 8000' elevation. then i went about 25 mph.
one thing i wish i had were electric fans, which would definetely help out.

Facts are that the dashhawk offers many of the same info plus alot more and is a lot more flexible in its display of that info. For towing I've found the torque converter slippage counters invaluable as a proactive indicator of which way my tranny temps will be heading. The only thing that the dashhawk doesn't have that the scangauge does are Trip fuel economy and DTE which I don't need, but I do find the instant fuel economy very useful when towing. I can adjust pedal position based off of that and improve overall fuel economy. They are working on trip fuel economy (as well as instant hp and instant tq which I can't wait to play with) and tend to release new features or updates every 3 months or so. Either way they are both good tools, just depends on what you want and need. I would still recommend to the OP to check out both. I don't care which he gets
