Posted another thread commenting on how impressed I am with the hauling ability of my 2004 F150. Now I am curious if any of you guys use your trucks to haul truck campers and what your impressions are of the set up?

 

People do it. I'd bet $20 that every one of over GVWR unless they have the extra paylaod package (7700 or 8200 GVWR). I don't recommend exceeding Ford's specs, even if the weight looks okay on the truck's suspension.

 

i do on my 97


2200 dry wt on that camper, not including any of the gear, food n bev. i have custom alcan springs that are 7" arc leafs with extra 1k # payload capacity. 4.88 gears.
im scared for the next trip, i have a 5.4 sc'd now in front of my 4r70w

 

That doesn't look safe.
