towing or not with egde

with a egde tunner makes towing better. could you use towing mode when you are not towing, and would it be ok to run it in performance mode without high test gas? want to be safe.

You can not run in performance with low octane, however you can run the tow mode only all the time if you want..

I leave my Edge on lvl2 (tow setting) all the time. Even when I am not towing I still run that setting. Granted I would like to run lvl3 (performance setting), but I don't what and be switching tunes all the time when I have to hook to a trailer.

And no you can not run the performance tune with 85-87or 89 oct gas. 91 octane or higher only.

the performance tune puts more timing in the the motor, which needs higher oct. Running a low octane fuel with alot of timing results in detonation and will ruin the motor in a hurry.

with the tow tune you can run 87 oct. I always run 89 because it is the same price as 87. Lets put it this way, its better to run too high of octane than too low.

I am another Edge user that keeps it in # 2... with or without something being towed behind me.

After about a year of this I can say that this programmer has boosted my daily fuel economy and towing fuel economy by 1 to 2 mpg. Not much but moving in the right direction.

Some intakes (2 or 3 only) will cause the motor to run lean because they let in so much air, this will happen if you are running the stock tune or virtually any canned tune (like the Edge for instance). But like I said there are only 2 or 3 intakes that will cause this problem, most will not.

I have been running the Airaid Jr. intake on my truck for almost 3 years without any problems what so ever. And the best part of the Jr. system is that it only costs around $100.
