tow hitches

I was at Summit looking for hitches and saw 2 different ratings for class 3 hitches, 1 said 6000 pounds and another said 10000, is that possible? Which hitch manufacturer would u guys recommend

The first rating is when you just plop a trailer on the hitch and go. It's saying that the max trailer weight can be #6,000 and probably no more then #600 tongue weight.

The other rating is when you incorporate a Weight Distribution Hitch setup. This is where you have a special hitch head and use spring bars that attach to the trailers A frame to 'distrubute' the tongue weight on all the rigs axles. With this setup, the hich is rated for a #10,000 trailer and probalby a #1,000 tongue weight.

Now, just because your hitch has those ratings, does not mean your truck does.... You have to use the lower of the two ratings if applicable....
