I have a 03 SCrew that has doesn't have a tow package, so naturally I am looking to add one. At the same time though, my rear bumper is a little screwed up so I am pondering just swapping it out for a bumper with a built in receiver hitch like from RanchHand or Reunel. Are these just as good as getting the normal receiver hitch? Since as far as I can tell, the stock bumper and a normal receiver are both bolted to the frame (at least on my 92 they were). Thanks.

 

If they will warranty the bumper/reciever as a Class III or a Class III with an IV endorcement they are as strong as a reciever hitch. If they have a Class V rating 2.5" it will be heavier duty than most recievers. (heavier than most 1 ton recievers)
