2000 4.2L V6 - Can it tow an Accord?

I have a 2000 F150 SuperCab 2WD with the 4.2L V6 and it has the automatic transmission. I read that the auto has a higher towing capacity than the 5-speed. I also believe the 4.2 is rated at 4,500lbs towing. I need to move a 2007 Accord.

Using a Class III/Class IV hitch, I plan to use a tow dolly (where only the front two wheels of the car are on the dolly, and the rear two wheels ride on the ground). Can the V-6 do this? Is it to much? Any similar experiences?

Anyhow, the destination that is 470 miles away via interstate, or 400 miles away using the most direct State Highway route. Interstate is flatter compared to the State Highway route, but has higher speeds and more traffic.

I towed my brothers 300zx (3200lbs weight) with a Windstar (3.8l v6 I think?) with same setup as you are planing on using and it had NO issues, with a few hills too, no problems at all for almost 800km's. I think you will be fine.

What axle ratio do you have. Check your driver's door jam for axle code if you don't know. With 3.55, you'll be fine. Anything less, it won't be a fun trip.

be very easier on her and you will do just fine, let the truck slow down and down shift going up hills, you dont want to burn your transmission up

you can also turn off the AC going up a hill for a little more power

According to ManualF150 it can tow anything, just don't go over 2k RPM!
