BecaZ,

No, I'm wondering about towing weights and how much payload your F150 has compared to an F350..

Speed or power is only a minor fraction of the towing equation.. Exceed your trucks ratings or ask it to do more then it's capable of doing and that's where things will get interesting.. Just not how fast you can go..

Mitch my papa said 7200 lbs gvr or something like that? papa said his trailer is 6400lbs dry and his f-350 was just overkill. he also said that my truck will handle it just fine but thanks for the concern Hun.

6400 dry is fine, but what's its loaded weight? You may be very close or even over one or more of the ratings by the time you get done. I would never say that a F-350 is overkill for any kind of towing.

glc has a good point on the fact that you just might be over weight when loaded. look inside the cabinets or behind the bath door and find the ratings sticker it should tell you just what the trailer might get up to (max weight) when loaded. and remember to add weight of you and Sean and every thing else in the cab to that of the trailer and then you'll have the total amount of weight you will be towing or GVWR with the truck. if its over 7200 your screwed.

Load up the truck with everything and everybody you will be taking with you, and go fill the gas tank. Go find a truck scale and get it weighed. Subtract the total weight from 7200 and that's how much your maximum tongue weight should be. Note that an EMPTY 6400# trailer will probably have at least 800# on the tongue..........

NOW do you see why we recommend 3/4 and 1 ton trucks for big trailers? These 11000# tow ratings on 1/2 ton trucks are fantasy.

BeckaZ - Check this link out to figure out what your truck can tow.

http://www.ford.com/resources/ford/g...vF150sep09.pdf

It all depends on what gears / motor / 4x2 or 4x4 / and wheelbase your truck has. But going by fords chart unless you have a standard cab with a 4.6 you will be fine with the trailer. My truck shows 9800# for towing and we tow multiple trailers with it. Our 30' Trail Lite travel trailer is very light and it tows it like its not even there where as our 20' enclosed which we transport the race truck in it tows it fine but you definatly have to tow with ALOT of caution due to the weight. We normaly don't tow it with the 150 but with the 250 diesel. Hopefully the chart at that link will help you with your questions about how much your truck is rated at.

Max tow ratings are fantasy. You will be over one or more of the other max load ratings long before you hit the max tow rating.
