Good to hear! Had a few PM's from people with trucks with the same spec's and stated that they barely noticed it behind their trucks. I know I could have gone bigger, but some of the camp sites up here are hard enough to get into, didn't want to have to limit myself to spots.

What RPM do you like the "cruise" at. We are not exactly flat up here, so I figured sticking to 55-60mph and 2200rpm range on flat spots would be good. Hills I figure let the Triton do what it's made to do! Weee!

Now if the darn snow would melt and get up to about 60 degrees I would be going out this weekend. Oh well!

I have 3.55 gears and I keep it about 2500rmp if its flat that's about 60-65. I have some big passes that we travel over and keep it at the same but struggles over the really good passes like the two on I-90 going into Montana.

I really like being able to get into the smaller campgrounds. We looked at a 26' Aerolite and realized it was just too big to get to the campgrounds we like to stay at.

Lock out overdrive and everything will work fine. Most TTs have tires that are speed rated for 65mph max, so it is wise to stay under that speed. My powertrain combination (2v 5.4L, 3.73 axle ratio, 32" tires is happier at 68mph than 60mph. I'm turning about 2200rpm at 60mph, 2450rpm at 65mph. Your goal should be to keep the torque converter locked, regardless of gear.

^^ X2! This is a huge help.

To aid in that, if you do not have a programmer that displays TC status, you can get a Scanguage II, and display the SLP PID (Xgauge user add-on = SLP = 'slip' = Converter speed out/in ratio)

Other then a gage or tuner, how do you know when the TC is locked?

You can tell based on the engine speed. The torque converter is a form of clutch. Drive at a constant speed, light accelerator input to do so. Slowly increase accelerator. If the engine speed rises slowly in direct relation to vehicle speed, it is locked. If the engine speed rises 15% (say 2000rpm to 2300rpm) quickly before the vehicle speed increases, the TC is not locked.

Unloaded, the 4-spd auto will shift into 4th gear around 25mph at low acceleration rates. The TC will lock around 42mph if warmed up. The engine speed will drop about that 15% when it locks.

Well, I picked up the trailer yesterday and the truck towed it nicely. I could definitely feel it back there as it was about 5,000lbs and icy roads.

As for the ScanGaugeII, I tried to search and find out about it being able to tell me the transmission temp. I was thinking if I got one to have it posting the Tranny Temp, MPG, Now the Torque Converter, and one other... I have never used any type of scanner / chip / programmer so really new to em. But I definitely think it would be a great investment if it would help me save my truck.

Are they difficult to setup? I consider myself somewhat technically savy, just don't have a ton of experience on working on vehicles.

NM, google is my friend. So any newly purchased ScanGaugeII comes with Xgauge from my understanding. All I have to do is go on their website, find the Ford info then add the codes accordingly and it should give me the added sensor? Saw the Torque ft/lb and Transmission Temp listed on there for ford. Whats the Ford PWM / CAN stand for?

We tow a 26' Starcraft Travel trailer loaded is real close to 6000lbs with no issues. My truck is a 2010 4.6 3v 3.55 gears w/ tow package. Cruise a round 60-65 mph and get 12-13 mpg on flat roads.
