adding Factory TBC installation 09 + F150

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Title says it all.
this is for 09 + trucks with factory tow set up (not max tow)
if your truck has a receiver and both the flat 4 pin and round 7 pin plugs on the rear. you may want to add a TBC module. This post will sow just how easy it is to add.

tools needed
knife
8 mm socket and ratchet

first off on left side of radio there is a trim piece that needs to be remove. start at the bottom and just pull to the rear of truck.

once you have it started work your way up the right side.
once right side of trim is off pull trim piece to the right.

if you have a 4x4
you will need to remove the wiring from the switch. its not hard, just press the tab down and pull

Now you need to remove the two 8mm bolts upper left corner and lower right corners. once you have removed screws you can pull (cell / storage) pocket out.

there will be a plug attached to the back side of pocket.
this is where the new TBC will plug in to. if its not there (the plug) dont be alarmed. it will be taped to the diagnostic port, under steering column. now you can install the TBC. plug in to port.

install the two 8mm screws make them tight. you dont want a rattle going down the road.

now replace the 4x4 plug to the switch

now your ready to install trim piece. put in upper right corner first then Aline all snap spot and snap it in in one motion.
dont snap from top to bottom as you wont be able to line up bottom locations

when all is said and done it will look like this

if you have not put in fuss that came with trailer wiring. the ones that came with the truck then here is where thay go. fuse goes in #9 and relay goes in #21

hope this is a help to you and i have made sense of it all for you

now the last step go have a beer and relax!

you will need to go to ford dealer and have the TBC flashed to work with the truck. it only cost me time the dealer did it for free for me!

is this something my husband can do in the drive way?
he wants to add a trailer thing so we can use my parents trailer for camping.
he has been on here all day trying to find out about this same thing.
if he brakes my truck in some way ill just cry.
should i let him or pay the dealer the $480.00 to do it?
right now money is tight so i dont know.

I had reviewed your posts thinking he was talking about you, as well. I could see nothing wrong with what you had done. You're doing just fine.
