It's not gonna pull it like it's not there. But it will most certainly pull it.

the trailer weighs 3200 empty and my race car weighs 3100. My biggest concern is maxing out the truck and killing it.

You'll be fine. Wait around for some added feedback. I'm sure people will chime in on things you can do to make it tow better.

I'll assure you it'll pull it.

I pull my dads boat sometimes, weighs right at 7000lbs when full of gas. And like I said the truck pulls it fine. But you can def tell it's there.

Keep in mind my truck already sits low as it is. Your FX4 hooked up to that boat would squat some but it wouldn't look as low as mine. You could always AAL if you're not comfortable with the way it sits.

You'll want to use a WD hitch setup if it's going to be over #500 tongue weight and #5000 trailer weight anyway..

That will level you back out.

Towing an enclosed cargo trailer or travel trailer is not the same as a boat. Weight hurts on hills and accelerating, but maintaining highway speeds is all about aerodynamics. Regardless, 7k is the happy limit for most half tons with flat fronts. Use a good weight distribution hitch, keep it out of overdrive, and enjoy.

I'm going to be doing the same thing with a 8.5 x 24 V-nose with an 02 Screw FX4, just picked up a blue ox sway pro for it off craiglist rated for 1,000lbs tongue weight. I will be using a tekonsha prodigy for brake control.

I pull a 7000k 8.5x18' enclosed flat front trailer with no problem, my equipment is a 06 fx4 5.4 screw. my mods are a gryphon tunes and ofcourse I use the towing tune when pulling it, a jlt air intake and an aftermarket exhaust and the tekonsha prodigy brake controller. the gpm do suck, about 6 mpg when is at max and 9-10 when is empty both tested at 60 mph. I am looking to install air bags since it will squat with that amount of weight.

Get WD first. The rear axle is probably overloaded. Air bags does not change how much weight is on the rear axle. You need more weight on the front axle which is what the WD hitch does. It also offers more control with say.
