CO, I know you know your stuff about towing and trailers, but you have lots of wrong information. 7.3s with a manual tranny were actually rated for MORE HP after 2000 (250 for auto, 275 for stick), which brings us to the next point, of the 6.4 coming in at 350 HP. My math sucks, but even I know that is much more than the 7.3. But, you did get the part about the fuel economy sucking... til the DPF comes off. Then the 6.4 will have double the power of the 7.3, with much better mileage.

Here is a F-450 at a local dealership that fits their towing needs perfectly. I saw a tech out driving it yesterday...absolutely beautiful truck. And, it's within their budget.

Rose, I've gotta ask though, what type of monster horse trailer do you own?

The 6.4 was a lot better than the 6.0. The 7.3's are getting pretty old now.

We ended up getting a 2003 450 with the 7.3 engine. It's currently at the welder's getting a flatbed put on. Here is what it looked like with the utility bed on it (traded that in towards the flatbed):

EXCELLENT choice! Is that an automatic or a stick? If it's an automatic, you may want to consider getting the tranny beefed.

Nice choice Rose. If its an auto, Brian's Truck Shop in Lead Hill, Arkansas builds the best 4r100 transmissions around with the best warranty (LIFETIME).

Have you weighed that trailer? I don't think it'd weigh 11K, but I could be wrong...
