2006 trailer harness

we just got a new trailer with the 7 pin harness for brakes. one of the trucks that will be pulling this trailer is a 2006 f150. here is my problem.. the truck only has the 4 pin harness, and we need to put a 7 pin round plug on it. i have looked, and cant find any info on doing this for an 06. i did find the thread for the 04 truck where the new harnes plugs in between the old harness. is the harness the same between the 04 and 06 trucks? if so then i should be able to just buy a harness for an 04 and install it on our 06 right?

thanks for any help!

That's the first place I looked - and all they have is a 4 pin replacement. Strange indeed.

You know - maybe if you emailed them or called them and asked, they may be able to tell you the straight story!

Well, i emailed etrailer.com and this is the reply i got back from them. if you go to the link they provide,it actually goes to the 4 pin harness which i have already found which leads me to believe they dont have what i need, and ill probably have to order my wiring harness elswhere. However, it may be possible, they just sent me the wrong link, so i will be emailing them back just to be sure.

Thank you for your interest in etrailer.com.

The part number you would need for your 2006 For F-150 differs from the 2004. You would actually need part 40185 to convert your existing 4-pole flat connection to a 7 blade.

If you would like to view this item online, please visit the following link: http://www.etrailer.com/p-40185.htm

We currently have these in stock and available for immediate shipment. If you would like to order, you may do so either on line or by calling us toll free at 1-800-298-8924.

Please email or call us directly if you have any other questions.

Thank you,

Jen D
