You are getting the same trailer that I have.

I would not recommend that hitch. I would suggest this style, and this is the one I use on my F150.I haul everything from atv's to lumber and you will need the weight dis. hitch espically when going down the freeway.

I bought my weight dis. hitch from my local camper dealership. I told them my setup with my truck and they suggest this to me.

A wd hitch is they only way I'd haul it. I pull a similar size trailer back and forth between Fl and NH with 2 Harleys, weighs about 4500 loaded. I have a Reese wd hitch set up.

I don't mean to hijack the thread (sorry black1504wd) but what is the proper way to decide what chain link you are supposed to use? I just got a trailer not to long ago and it came with all the weight distribution stuff and I have been cranking it down so that the the bar is close to the frame channel of the trailer (if that makes sense) is that right? I have heard that the bar should be parallel with the ground. Also, on my hitch I can adjust how high or low the ball is, is there any particular place it is supposed to go or does it just depend on how high the towing vehicle is? Again, sorry for the attempted thread hijack blackf1504wd.

There's a problem with your math - if the empty trailer weighs 2500# and its max gross weight is 7000#, you can't put 6000# of tools in it.

I use to go 60 mph with the v nose(with out wd) and not have any problems. Then i towed the same trailer without the v nose and noticed a big difference in mpg. I actually traded in the flat nose in for the v nose. I really noticed the difference when towing the v nose with the wd hitch on the free ways. Espically when big rigs would pass ya. Here is a little tip. I use different color zip ties on the chain links for the different trailers I use. Like the camper I use black zip tie on chain link 5, and I use orange zip tie on chain link 4 for the enclosed trailer. it takes the guess work out when hooking up.

D'S-
What style wd hitch do you have? These instructions are for reference only.
If you have the round bar. Here are the instructions.

If you have the trunnion bar hitch.

The OEM hitch is rated for 500 pounds on tongue weight without weight distribution. 500 pounds will 150-200 pounds from the front axle, which make for poor steering. With a half ton pickup, WD really starts helping over about 3500 pounds. Your 6000 pound loaded trailer should have about 700 pounds of tongue weight, for which WD is required by your hitch and recommended for a half ton suspension anyway.
