Towing opinions

Truck is a 2007 fx4 crew cab with 3.73 tow package. Looking to tow a 22' enclosed car hauler which weighs about 3300 pounds. Will be loaded with a car which weighs about 3,000 pounds at the most. Trip is about 900 miles there and back, some step inclines along the way. Truck is equiped with equalizer WD hitch, add a leaf in the rear and brake controller. Any estimates on miles per gallon I'm looking at as well?

I'd guess about 8 mpg. You are properly equipped and shouldn't have any problems. I'd lock it out of overdrive and keep it under 65.

I think you might do better than 8, 9-10mpg seems more common with the 3V 5.4L towing a travel trailer that is probably a bit taller, more drag. You'll find you save about 15% fuel costs at 62mph than 70mph.

Ok thanks guys! Do you think it is worthwhile to look into one of the tuners, such as the gryphon or sct x3, for a dedicated tow tune?

I get 8 MPG on my '09 when towing my 32' travel trailer using the "87 Custom" tune and 87 octane gas (Gryphon CTS programmer) and 9-10 MPG with the "93 Custom" tune, running 93 octane gas.
