My father bought me an enclosed trailer while I'm overseas. He found a 2009 6X12 for a pretty decent deal. It's a single axle with I think 3500# rating. He isn't real sure on all the specs but it has the fold down rear rap and a side door. Only thing it doesn't have is the V-nose.

My question is How many ATV's can I fit in this thing? I think I should be able to get three in there sideways. For most of the time being we will only need it for two ATV's until my lil one gets bigger.

We were looking into the 7'X16' for this reason but I think that may be a bit much plus I really do not want to take a hit on mileage.

Any input on these trailers and hauling crap in them would be awesome.

it has been a while sice i have had my atvs and trailer buti beleive my trailer was that sie and i could fit my honda 400ex and my friends sport quad in straight only fit two like that i think if we put them side ways we could fit one very small one on the end if you plan to carry alot of atvs i would suggest up grading but it should be fine. we usually always ended up with one in the bed. cause it just waas always just little to small

 

Another thing to keep in mind is the max weight your trailer can haul (sounds like 3500lb) not being an ATV guy not sure how much they weigh but a lot of times when it comes to enclosed trailers you can fit a lot more in then the weight limit allows. As far as taking a mpg hit sorry to late, any enclosed trailer will have roughly the same mpg drop no matter the weight due to aerodynamic drag (mainly the big flat rear end). Your best bet for not taking a mpg hit is the BRE trailer (definatly not a cheap answer)

Each atv is roughly around 400 lbs. I'm just wondering if We will be able to fit three of them back there.

I also have the 5.5ft bed so I really can't haul one in the bed of the truck. Plus I like to keep my gear and other things in the bed. Now that I have a bed cover it will be nice to keep those items secured in the bed.

I knew we would be taking a hit on mpg's, but I was willing to take that hit when we started looking for one. I didn't know if there was much difference between the 7X16 and 6X12 trailers. So, I figured the 6X12 will be fine as long as I can fit three in there.

Now that we have this trailer, maybe I can figure out a way to ditch the tents and replace them with this trailer.

ATV's as of now... LTR-450, LTZ-400, power wheels raptor, and power wheels F-150.

 

That's not totally true.
Flat nose trailers cause considerably more frontal area drag at speeds over 40mph.... like a parachute! This is even more apparent with taller trailer vs. shorter trailers.
A V-nose is your friend in hauling cargo trailers.

Now a great question is why do 5th wheel campers not have a v-nose but most Gooseneck horse trailers do have a v-nose or tapered nose?
Space vs fuel economy. People want the internal space usually for a bed in the camper.. but in a horse trailer people want fuel economy. People expect to get bad mileage towing a camper.

with all that you are definently maxing the space of the trailer. when you upgrade the power wheels to actually quads your gonna have to do some crafty finagling. maybe even have to stand at least one oup on the tail end.

 

Haha yeah... I really don't want to stand them up. I figured this will be a tight fit but I'm basing my past experience with a 5X12 utility trailer. It was a PITA but three fit on it side ways. Hopefully I'll be able to shove them all in there when the time comes.

Well do you guys think I need to try and sell this one for a 7X12ft? I know it is my choice and all that but for what I will eventually need it for would it better suit me to upgrade?

You'd be lucky to get two in there.. You may need a extra 1.5ft... My ATV trailer is a 5X8 and I only have about 2ft if that behind it... You have a extra 4ft.. I have A KingQuad which is bigger than the LTR and LTZ... They should fit being that they are shorter..

 

I have a 2009 V-Nose 6x12 Haulmark. Depending on the ATV size you may be able to get two in. Below I have a Raptor 700 and 250 in mine
