Prodigy p2 brake controller

I installed a prodigy p2 brake controller in my 2006 f150 screw yesterday using the harness and relay that was provided with my truck as part of the tow package. Everything seemed to go fine. I plugged it in and the lcd on the unit flashed n.c. for awhile and then it finally went to solid n.c. According to the instructions this seemed to be the normal start up when plugging it in. I know the n.c. stands for no trailer connected. The problem is according to the instructions after I turn my truck off and there is no activity for 15 minutes the brake controller should enter a power saving state and shut off the lcd display. Mine never shuts off. It stays on displaying n.c. all hours of the day. I will come out the next morning and it is still on. I just wondered if I hooked something up wrong causing it not to go into power saving state? Or is this going to hurt anything by staying on all the time? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, it should shut down after around 15 minutes of inactivity. I bought the Prodigy wire harness for my truck when I bought the controller and it was plug and play and mine turns off on it's own.

How did you wire up the harness?

I just had the prodigy P2 installed this weekend when I bought a my new camper. I had it installed by the shop, but my controller also will turn off when the truck is off. I have read online that a few people installed relays into their ingnition for the controller to turn on when you turn the truck on rather then just connected to the battery.
