going from 4 pin to 7 pin

I just bought a 98 F150, 4.6 V8, auto trans, 3.55 rear. It's an XLT Flare Side with 17" wheels, loaded and I love it. It ha a 4 Pin trailer setup and the connector for a brake control unit under the dash. I've got the control unit but how do I find the blue wire that should be under the truck somewhere near the 4 Pin connector? My trailer has electric brakes and a 7 Pin plug, although only 5 wires come out of it. Thanks.

On my 2001, the connector is on the drivers side on the inside of the frame about even with the spare tire. Drop the spare and have a look, may be the same as mine, good luck.

do a search for "connector" in titles only.
there is a thread that has all the part numbers you will need.

I researched the trailer connection on my 97. I noticed that in the fuse panel there was a fuse for seperate tail lights for the truck and trailer....I liked that...when I just bought my 2002 I could not get the tow package....I took it to a hitch man and we looked into the fuse panel and sure enough the fuses were there for the trailer tow group. So I had him install the 7 pin reciever and it was a direct plug into the wireing harness below the bed of the truck...cost about $75 for the connector and about 25 bucks for the labor.....that way if you ever have to use a trailer that uses all the wires....your set!.......good luck Bob Johnson
