Cabover campers for SuperCrew

Has anyone had any experience with a cabover camper with their SuperCrew? If so, how much did it weight and what was the size. I am thinking about getting a cabover for my SuperCrew and I need help.

Thank you.

Unhappy

Here is a 'no' from one manufacturer.

I don't know what your payload is but, about 1500 lbs is the lightest slide-in I've seen. That wouldn't leave much for you the family and the picnic basket.

hmmm... that link didn't work right. Go to the tech Q/A on that site. They address the F150 SuperCrew specifically.

Hi Duggy Welcome!

Is your screw camper certified?

Maybe someone here has done it and will post. I dont recall.

Try www.4wheelcampers.com Maybe something there? Its gonna have to be a really light wt. one for your truck. Also low profile is something to pay attention to.

Good luck...OT

4wheelcampers says that they don't have any products that work with the SCrew. The guy on the phone said that the issue was the "narrow tailgate.

Ford got pretty sneaky about finding ways to avoid liability.

That's kind of weird. I just saw a Chebie s-10 ext cab with a slide in camper. How can there not be one for a Screw?

The folks at FourWheelCamper say that their shell model will fit the Screw. They'll send you a video and info about size and weight etc. Looks like a pretty well made product. Other than them I think you're out of luck.

I know I am responding to this thread one year late, but I am almost ready to purchase a Northstar capover camper ( see http://northstarcampers.com/TC650.asp )for my 2001 Ford F150 SuperCrew. I was wondering if you ever purchased a camper for your SuperCrew and what your experience has been with it. My truck has the 5.4 L engine so my payload is rated at 1900 Lbs. The TC650 from Northstar weighs in at 1425 Lbs.

I have the same question and I'm looking at the Northstar as well. Please keep me updated on what you find. I just purchased a 2002 screw FX4 5.4L. Thanks for your help. Corbin Sakdol Littleton Colorado. cdsakdol@msn.com

You might also try Phoenix campers in Brighton, CO. They might have something for the SuperCrew.

After weeks of research, I just bought a Phoenix slide-in for my '98 F150 4x4 S/C. I was very concerned about weight so I can continue to tow my 2900lb boat. The camper weighs 1180 lbs and is 61' high. It will fit in my garage which was one of my goals. After looking at many brands, I thought it was the best choice. It will be installed tomorrow.

We also looked at Northstar; very nice campers but they were a couple inches too high for my 8' garage door.

I've already visited a suspension shop and we'll add one leaf to the rear spings later this week.

I don't think SCrew F150's are supposed to haul slide in campers. First, even a pop-up would weigh to much and with the super short bed and the 'crew' cab, the Center Of Gravity is to far back, most likely behind the rear axle.

Also, camper dealers will tell you anything.

FORD included a data sheet with both my F150 S/C and F150 SCREW saying not recommended for slide-in campers...

I think Super Cab's might get away with a lighter pop-up. If you keep the wet weight down to say 1000-1300lbs.

My 7700 came with a camper cert in the glovebox, I think they all do.

Found a Camper for Super Crew

Outfitter will build one to fit the Super Crew. The frame is a fully welded aluminum which is much lighter. See the link below. cdsakdol@msn.com

2004 F150 Screw camper

Hi - I was wondering if Happy Camper or any one else has successfully purchased and used a slide in for the 04 F150 super crew? I saw that some were considering the phoenix or northstar.

Thanks
