Lightning towed by Lightning?

Can my 99 Lightning be hauled by my (on order) 03 Lightning? 03 Lightning has higher payload than 99-02. I do not know how this translates to trailer towing, if at all. I know nothing about hauling. If it is possible, what would be recommended to improve handling etc? (Suspension etc./ Aluminum vs steel open haulers). Any general directions would be appreciated. Lightning is 4700# Thanks.

Your payload capacity has nothing to do with your towing capacity. Payload is how much weight you can put in the bed of your truck. Towing capacity depends on the Class of the towing package you have...Class II, Class III, Class IV etc. The 01 L is rated to tow 5000 lbs. (Class III I think) Don't know about any other year, but check your paperwork on the truck. The tow package rating should be listed. Hope this helps.
