Ok the Shimmy in my AODE is back!

LOOKING AT ANOTHER REBUILD ON 4R70W

This all happened at a tire size change about three months...go figure? 32/11.5/15 to 31/10.5/15's...thats it! Now at low RPMS (12-1500) the trucks is vibrateing in D not O/D, like it has a bunch of un balanced rims. When it first staring acting up the thing would not engage into gear when cold (first starting in AM time before work) and sometimes on the HWY it would shift in between O/D and Drive...once it even shot into neutral trying to pass a guy going up hill. This D**n thing was just rebuilt 30k miles ago? What gives. I took it back to the Tranny shop, they ran the code scanner and nothing came up. We changed the fluid, filter, and the little electronic shift control peice on the side of the tranny? So after 125 bones here I am at only a little less nucence than before. Someone please give me some insight before this thing leaves me hangin on the side of the road?

After talking to Mike Troyer it seems very possible this thing may be going out! Who has run Art Carr trannies in there Tow Trucks

Looking at A Rebuild

Ok I found a used tranny to buy and get rebuilt to keep my truck up and running. Only thing is that it is out of a 96F150 2 wheel drive. My truck is a 4 wheel drive. Both our VIN numbers are U codes and both are 4R7W trannys. Is there a difference

Yes, the output shaft is different and the extension housing (the rearmost part of the transmission) is different. Both parts can be swapped off the old transmission, but it takes a complete teardown to get the output shaft out.
