1995 6cyl clutch

First off, yes, I did a search...

I've been looking through all the posts on replacing the clutch on a 1995 6cyl 5-speed. Unfortunately, I've got a couple more questions.

The truck is at my in-laws house in Boston. Some time this summer, I'm going to be going up there, replacing the clutch, and driving the truck back to TX. The truck has got about 100k miles on it. Now for the questions:

Is there any break-in reccommended after replacing the clutch and before jumping right into a 1500 mile trip?

I read that there's an upgrade that can be done to an 11 inch clutch, is that available to every trans of that year? Does that require a different flywheel?

Aside from the 10 or 11 in clutch replacement, this is a fairly straightforward install, no? Get the right parts, pull out the old ones, put in the new ones, and slap it back together?

I've pulled auto trannies more than once, and helped with clutches before, but this is going to be my first attempt at doing one myself, 1500 miles from home, and putting it through an ultimate test immediately afterwards. I plan on bringing my small tool kit with me when I go, just in case something goes south on the way back.

My biggest concern is getting up there, and realizing that I don't have all the parts I'm going to need. Enough so, that I'm considering getting a used flywheel from a junkyard, having it resurfaced, and taking it up there with me.

Any advice? Tips? Ideas? Offers to join in on a little work, some good conversation, and frosty beverage?

Don't slip the clutch too much the first 500 miles. I would suggest running around town for 30 minutes after replacing the clutch and then parking it...letting it cool completely down....like a brake job. Fortunately it sounds like most of your driving will by highway which doens't slip the clutch at all. Good luck.
