FT plate kit

How many of you guys have this kit. Is it really noticeable between shifts.
What are your opinions, posotive or negative. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

I did the mod and would recomend it. Nice 1-2 & 2-3 shifts at WOT but still streetable when cruizing. I installed it in my driveway and have to say, it was a messy SOB. I would have had a transmission shop do it if I knew how bad it was going to be. But it is worth the money to me.

How hard was the install on a scale from 1-10.
When cruising or 1/4 or 1/2 throttle can you feel it or only at WOT.

Thanks for the reply and info

All the shifts are awesome, up and down. One of the best bang for the buck modifications. No skill required you just need a **** load of paitence.

I'll make the instructions here in a bit

i did the whole valve body from FT on my 03 F-150, the shifts are great nice and hard 1-2 and 2-3 and overdrive stays the same, install is pretty easy about 1 hour or so if you know what you are doing and take your time, read the instructions carefully and you wont have a problem, good luck

Lookin forward to the instructions asinatra.

Bigtruck, I had the FTVB in my old truck and was not happy with it. It was never consistant. It would shift firm one minute and not the next. I would drive down the street and I wouldnt feel a thing, it pretty much shifted like it was stock most of the time, even at WOT. I am willing to give this kit a try, I especially like the idea to be able to swap it back to stock. And installation seems to be pretty simple.

My factory tech valve body has been on for over two years now, and I am very happy with it. not only are the shifts quick and distinct but the fluid is just as clean as the day it was put in. With the extra hp that I have i thught that my trans would have been done by now but it is as good as when I installed the valve body and a nother benefit is the torque converter lock up is much better.

Make sure you don't leave the 2-3 accumulater spring out, like they suggest. I had to tear back into mine after having it in a month in order to re-install the spring. Damn thing would rip your teeth out on the 2-3 shift even when taking it easy. Everyone who rode in or drove the truck would ask "WTF is wrong with your tranny?" After only a month the magnet in the bottom of the pan was covered with metalflake. I'm sure if I had left it, my tranny would be toast by now (If I were still willing to drive it shifting so dam hard like that).

With the kit it shifts hard. Harder than I'd like, but preferable to the crappy, slushy, slip-for-3-seconds-between-gears factory shifting. I'd really just like a truck to shift normally, like my Ranger or my buddy's Chevy or any other normal shifting truck. But Ford had to 'improve' their trannies to the point of being undriveable and the FT kit makes it driveable.

Ive been looking into the FT plate kit too, but was wondering-Are there any big benifits of the FTVB over just the plate kit?

I believe they have discontinued the complete valve body and now only offer the plate kit. I'm shure that there are some v/body kits in stock at some of the vendors, from my understanding the plate kit gives almost the same advantages with more adjustability. the valve body without some custom tuning can be a little harsh especially if you are not making the HP I had a bearing problem in my supercharger and drove it for a week with no belt on so no boost and the valvebody was realy harsh at wide open throttle, depends what you like, everyone has differant tastes.
