4.2 v6 trannys

ive got a 98 f150 with a v6. the tranny bucks and down shifts in drive. soon as i let off gas it tries to down shift. I dont know whats wrong. Do i need to replace the tranny or is it a sensor? when im at a stop itll take off and then it acts like its low on tranny fluid and i got to rev it to get to engauge and go again. if I gotta change trannys are there any other trannys I can use? lmk if you have any info. thanks Jason

my tranny does similar things. itll down shift real hard when i let off the gas and it seems to rev too high sometimes like its slipping. im not sure if it just needs a rebuild and/or flush(110,000 miles on it) or if its just normal. its the same tranny that the 4.6 and 5.4's have and my old 97 never did it but it was services at 100,000 miles. im sure someone will chime in with insight

I ahve a 02 V-6 4.2 with 134K on it, never changed the tranny fluid.. I have been told by some to not do since i waited so long. Seems like i got some minor slipping now, just wondering what i should do now..

And did this person tell you what you were waiting for? A sign from up above? Divine intervention? Or for your tranny to go out so that you could buy a new truck?

Take it into the shop. Have it looked at. Get a professional opinion. Get several. Don't be afraid to take notes and ask intelligent questions. Try to find a shop that you feel comfortable with.

If all else fails, maybe Raptor05121 will make a video about it for you.
