SuperCrew Trans Fluid Change

SuperCrew Trans Fluid Change
Need some advice, I have a 01 Screw with the 5.4. 4X4,ORP
Trailing towing package.
The truck has 9000 miles on since May of last year. We use
for towing our trailing so the trans has seen some hot conditions.
3000 of the 9000 miles have been towing.
I want to change the trans fluid soon due to the towing I do.
What type of fluid is everyone using?
How many quarts?
Dropping the pan and changing the filter.
Should I switch to synthetic or the factory fluid ?
Draining the TQ necessary?
Any advice is welcome
Thx, TMeyers-Colorado

TMeyers,
I used a factory replacement filter from Ford Dealer ($20) and 13 quarts of Amsoil synthetic fluid (~$4.60/quart), reused the same pan gasket. Here's some "how-to" links from another website on changing the fluid and draining the torque converter:

TMeyers,
Man use Amsoil 100% Synthetic universal ATF, and have it completely flushed. I had it done at my local Fiffy Lub. After that, and driving all that day go home and drop the pan and change the filter. You will need another 5+ qts to fill the pan after the drop. You wont have to have a change for another 90k.
