A note to TroyK concerning my authenticity,

"i must admit...i have my doubts about the authenticity"

Just because I had no reason to post on this board before,
What makes you think I have a reason to lie about the transmission problem in my truck!

You think 900 posts makes you know how everyones truck is running, I don't think so,

And I do not like being called a liar!

Ok who cares how many posts a person has made. I have not had that many posts and I experienced problems with my trans as well. I had about 19000 miles on my truck and the O/D light started flashing and it would not shift into fourth! By the way my truck is 98, I picked it up 9-24-98, it has the 4.6L and is a 4X2, and yes it also has a 4R70W trans in it. I took it in and the dealer i took it to fixed the trans and had my truck back to me within 2 days. I now have 73000+ miles on my truck and have only had regular maintanence done on it.

I agree that Ford dose seem to have a problem these transmissons however I have also had good luck with Ford standing behind there product and if your truck is only 1200 miles out of warranty I would be willing to bet that they will fix it no questions asked. And if they don't want to fix it at your dealer then call Ford and have them get involved. This is a know problem with these trucks. When I called the dealer to schedule to have mine looked at they knew exactly what was wrong when i told them what it was doing and they told me to bring it in and ordered the parts.

Sorry for the long post, just can't stand it when people question other people's integrity because they got lucky and didn't have the same problem. If your truck dosen't have a problem dosen't mean that someone else is going to have the same luck. Give him a break!

dont' get your knickers in a twist...just making an observation...and a very valid one!!!

btw, i don't recall pointing the finger at anyone in particular...but when you read enough of these posts, it is fairly easy to tell who is on the up and up...last words on subject.

I've got a 4R70W transmission in a 2001 Supercrew and I drive it very hard; pulling 6500 pounds of horse flesh and trailer all over the place. As you can see by my sig, I installed a Transgo shift kit; this is probably the second best mod to my truck so far next to the Superchip. The truck has NO PROBLEMS to this point and I don't expect any; these are trucks not cars - drive them like a work horse and it should serve you for many years!
