Arrow Whinning transmission

Has anyone had a whine in their tranny that sounds almost like a power sterring pump without fluid? YOu hear it only on first 2 gears while pulling out. You can also hear it sometimes when you first start up the truck at idle. The shifting seams ok yet. Also sometimes hear a tinny sound like a heat shield is loose coming from tranny.

I've had it b4 in an '87 Mustang, I was told at that time, from a friend, that my tranny would need new clutch packs. He was right. About 8000 miles down the road, it wouldn't shift out of 1st gear and I had the have my tranny rebuilt. BTW, my tranny had around 150k miles on it by then.

I heard those sounds, too, on my brand new Screw. Had complete tranny failure at 6,000 miles.
