Post Tranny fluid change questions

I have a couple of questions. My truck is a 1999 f150 4x4 xtracab with a 4.6l engine and a 4R70W tranny.

1) What is the Ford part number of the filter, and is the 2wd filter different than the 4x4 filter.

2) What is the part # of the torque converter plug? I have heard both that you need a new plug and that you can reuse the old one?

3) How many quarts of fluid do I need to have on hand before starting? I'll be draining the pan and the converter.

Thanks for any help, I appreciate your time!

Traildog, The ones that I've seen sometimes the 4WD models have a deeper trans pan. I'm not too sure about the newer models, but as for the drain plug, just reuse the old one. You'll just confuse the Ford parts guy when you try and buy a new one. Plan on anywhere from 12-14 quarts of fluid when you do the complete job.You can get a good trans filter from your local auto parts store. Most of the new trannys let you reuse the pan gasket, which is pretty cool. I'm gonna be doing the exact same job that you are describing within the next 30 days or so. Good luck...
