Unhappy my first 5-sp failure

It happened at 70,716 miles, while shifting from first to second. As I pulled it into second, the shift **** came flying off! It rolled somewhere under the seat, out of sight. OK, grab the naked stick and pull it into second and keep going. Only a mile more to work. Sure feels weird without the ****. Got to work, found the ****, and pressed it back on. The good news: I put it back on so the shift pattern insert now faces the right way! My truck is now better than before the "failure".

I think your shifting to hard.

It took some pulling to get the *** off.
