Towing a motorcycle trailer

I have a '99 4.6 XL. At this moment, I have just a bumper trailer hitch. I may be towing a motorcycle trailer soon, and it will have a small cruiser on it (a Honda Shadow 600).

Do I need to get a frame-mounted hitch for this, or will my bumper hitch be fine?

Thanks,

tm

There is a trailer hitch that bolts underneath to the lower part of your bumper without needing to go to the frame. This will put the tongue (maybe just the trailer) at the same level. Our bumpers are generally too high up for motorcycle trailers. You will need:

1. the bumper mount receiver
2. 2" receiver ball

each are about $30-35 at a PepBoys or competitor.

You're good for towing up to 3000 lbs. with this system and will have a 2" receiver to plug in accessories like a step into.

For maximum size towing you can buy a class III or class IV at a higher price. I would buy these through summitracing.com
