New F150 ecoboost - engine fans stuck on high
#106
Did that exact same thing last Thursday by going to another dealer. Yes the original dealer 2 times did not even diagnose the fan not working correctly, just kept saying they were normal and that was how they should work based on Ford SSM 44451! Fans are working correctly now, but ac is still not good!
They replaced the fan assembly and the low fan relay.
Thanks!

What dealer did you take it to in order to get this fixed?

Created an account just for this. My trucks fan comes on/off on/off over and over on high, same as in your video. I've been to 2 different dealers and they both tell me it's fine. No other truck I've heard cycles as much as mine (other than yours in the video).

How many times are people going to be told the system is working as designed before they believe it? The fans are noisy, if they're not making noise then something is wrong.

Sorry, that is just not 100% accurate.
My truck had high speed fan all of the time, based on what you are saying its normal, it wasn't. Ford replaced a relay and full fan assembly. They run on low now 90% and on high only on really, really hot days!

The Ford service reps here are not technicians, they are customer service agents. Their function is to help people with their dealers, not troubleshoot issues over the Internet. They can't help you unless you send them a PM with the requested information after visiting a dealer.
The same info you can enter at ford.com. THey have no stroke!

The reason the a/c sucks in these trucks is because they are cycling the compressor on and off 5 times every minute. On the high humidity summer days, I get fog coming out of my vents every time the compressor kicks off and dumps humid air into the cabin. Then, it kicks back on and the fog disappears and its cold for a few seconds and repeat.
That is why the a/c units suck so bad. If you could figure out a way to keep the compressor on all the time, you would have freezing a/c. On my 2010 5.4, I had the same problem, and they put in a tech bulletin that stopped the cycling compressor, and I had no issues after that. I have had 2-2013 EB's and both of them cycled on and off, and they wouldn't fix it. Never did. Just blew me off.
One of my 2013's EBs started kicking the super high fans on like is mentioned here, and I took it in, and they said that it had to much freon in it, so they sucked it out and refilled and the high speed fan issue was gone.
Now I have a 2015 EB and the a/c is still cycling on and off, but it has cooled off here and I have not been using the a/c, so I can't tell what its doing. I have noticed that the fans on this new truck do run a lot harder than the old ones. Every time I turn the motor off on the 2015 with a/c off, the fans are running like they did on the old truck when the a/c was running. I also noticed that the new truck has shudders right behind the grill that open and close I guess to let air in or keep it out of the engine bay. Is that for gas mileage or temp control? I have never seen them closed before. Maybe they close at highway speeds.

I have a 2014 Ford F150 with Eco boost. I live in Charleston, SC and last weekend, we had the hellacious rains come through and now everything is flooded. Well, I saw a huge parking lot full of water and like a dumbass, I decided to drive through it having fun. Truck did great, but since then, I keep hearing my fan come on very loudly. Yes, definitely better on than off, but I still dont think it should be running like this. Has anyone had theirs looked at by the dealership or a mechanic? Would like to get to the bottom of this, as I am camping next weekend and I pull a 30 foot pull behind camper, so I do not want to run into any issues with overheating if I can avoid it. I have had the truck for a year, with 16000 miles on it, and this is the first time I have heard the fans come on like this, so definitely not a normal operating condition.

Hey Steven, was the water you went thru above the hubs of the wheels? If so, you probably got more issues than just the fans... Or did you just bomb thru some deep water like a DA..
Sounds like you just got a wire harness wet and it's shorting out??
Might clear up on it's own when it dries, or you effed up your truck...
Yes, I know, you should be able to off road these things to some extent, but.. Sh** still happens...
The darnedest things happen with electronics and water, so who knows??
Best of luck to ya!

radiator fan stuck on high
My radiator fan has been stuck on high for the last two weeks or so. I am in Canada, the tempature outside has been close to freezing. The fan goes to high about five seconds after starting and shuts off about five seconds after the engine is shut off. It sounds like a jet engine. 2102 F-150 Ecoboost about 60,000 miles (100,000 km)
